Easter Trail – March 2017

On Wednesday 29th March, five classes of Westfield children visited the Easter Trail set up in Northchurch Baptist Church. The trail was set up for the first time last year and again, this Easter, the children had the opportunity to travel back to Jerusalem and experience the events of Easter week.

The children entered four distinct areas depicting the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, at the foot of the cross and at the tomb. Again a huge effort had been made to set each scene with an imaginative use of backdrops and props, including real plants in the Garden of Gethsemane. The story was then told through a series of ‘eye-witnesses’ (church members in costume).

After the tour, the children were offered refreshments and an opportunity to ask questions and discuss what they had seen.

I would like to thank all those participating for their hard work in enabling so many children to participate in this event. Of course I would also like to thank the members of the Northchurch Baptist Church, and particularly Fiona Nicholls, for all their hard work in bringing the events described in the Bible to life.
