Southend-on-Sea – July 2019 - Reception, Year 1 and 2 had a fabulous, sunny day at the beach! Annual Music Recital – June 2019 - On the Thursday 20th June 2019, Westfield hosted their Annual Music Recital. We were very proud of all our performers. Y2 & Y5 Science Made Simple – June 2019 - Year 2 and Year 5 visited Greenway for a fun and engaging Science show. Y4 Residential trip to Hudnall Park – June 2019 - Team Monet's Hudnall Park trip was one of the wettest ones on record! Parent Drug/Alcohol Workshop - Westfield also hosted a Parent drug and alcohol workshop for all of the local schools. Y6 Drug and Alcohol Awareness and First Aid Training- June 2019 - Year 6 have been broadening their skills and knowledge this month through a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Workshop and First Aid Training. Open Learning Morning – June 2019 - Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended our Open Learning morning on Friday 7th June. Visit from author Catarina Peterson – May 2019 - Year 1 and Year 2 received a visit from author, Catarina Peterson. Governor in School – May 2019 - On Thursday 2nd May, we invited our Governors into the classrooms to experience our day-to-day culture and ethos and learn alongside our children. Drama Workshops – May 2019 - Inspirational drama workshops, led by Drama teacher Kate Hopewell. Y6 Residential to Osmington Bay – March 2019 - This year, Year 6 travelled further afield to Osmington Bay for their week’s PGL residential trip. K’Nex Challenge – March 2019 - Year 5 took part in a ‘hands on’ morning using their Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) skills to create a futuristic flying machine out of K’Nex. Science Day – 21st March 2019 - On Thursday 21st March, we had our annual Science day. We were extremely lucky to have a visit from Night Owls. Book Week – March 2019 - The month started with us celebrating our annual ‘Book week,’ where each class enjoyed celebrating stories from other cultures. Parent Literacy Open Morning – Mar 2019 - On Friday 1st March 2019 we opened our classroom doors for our children to share the literacy strategies they are learning in class. ‘Feel Good Weeek’ Feb 2019 - As part of our continued focus on supporting mental health and wellbeing at Westfield, we started this month with our annual ‘Feel Good week.’ Internet Safety Day – Feb 2019 - On Tuesday 5th February Sam Hollier from Digitally Yours came in to speak to Years 4, 5 and 6 about internet safety. Year 6 Young Voices Concert – Jan 2019 - On Thursday 31st January our Year 6 children had the fantastic opportunity to sing at the 02, with a choir of over 7,500 other children as part of the Young voices choir. Year 4 Maths Mastermind Workshop – Jan 2019 - On Monday 28th January four children from Year 4 were lucky enough to attend a Maths Mastermind Workshop at Markyate Village School. Year 5 Lincolnsfields Centre – Jan 2019 - Year 5 started the New Year by stepping back to the 1940's. Year 4 Affinity Water Visit – Jan 2019 - Year 4 used their skills and learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) to solve some real-world problems when Jo from Affinity Water came to run a workshop. Year 5 Thomas Coram Jazz Festival – Jan 2019 - Year 5 were treated to an enjoyable afternoon of Live Music on Wednesday 23rd January. Felt Workshop – 28th Jan 2019 - On Monday afternoons this month and next, a class of children are enjoying rolling up their sleeves and getting creative by making their very own felt, inspired by their class artist. Parent Maths Open Morning – 18th Jan 2019 - Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended our open maths learning morning. Online Safety Parent Workshop – 16th Jan 2019 - Thank you to the parents who attended our Online Parent Workshop. Y4 Trip to the Verulamium Museum - Team Monet had a great trip to the Verulamium Museum. It’s one thing learning about the Romans but actually visiting the site of the third largest Roman city in England. Year 2 visit to Mountfitchett Castle - On Tuesday 23rd October, Year 2 went to visit Mountfitchett Castle. As our topic this term has been castles and dragons. Year 3 visit to Celtic Harmony - Year 3 children took a step back in time to prehistoric Britain on Wednesday 23rd October. Reception visit Mead Open Farm - On Wednesday 3rd October, the Reception class went to visit Mead Open Farm. Year 6 learn how to keep themselves and others safe - Year 6 enjoyed an interesting, thought-provoking and eye-opening trip to Crucial Crew, hosted at the Hemel Hempstead Fire Station. Day of Languages – Sept 2018 - On Wednesday 26th September, we celebrated European Languages Day.
