At the beginning of the summer term, every class started their new Literacy focus by being immersed in their Literacy text through inspirational drama workshops, led by Drama teacher Kate Hopewell. During the week, through her sessions she took the children on a journey through a narrative, exploring story, text structure, character and the world of language. Each of the stories came to life through the delivery of these practical workshops and Kate’s energy and passion for literature. Stories ranged from ‘Where the Wild things are’ to Shakespeare texts including, ‘The Tempest, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet.’
I would like to congratulate all the children and staff who whole-heartedly embraced this creative experience.
Kate was extremely impressed when she visited Westfield and wrote the following message in our Visitor’s book
‘Thank you so much for inviting me to join you at Westfield! It has been such a privilege to work with all of the amazing teachers-truly rare to meet such incredibly dedicated kind and helpful people wherever I turned!
The children in each class have made each drama workshop feel very special indeed. So thoughtful, caring and creative! The last few days have been truly magical and have created some fantastic examples of the reason we became teachers! Thank you! ‘ Kate
