Southend-on-Sea – July 2019

The weather was extremely kind to us for our beach trip last Friday.  Reception, Year 1 and 2 made the journey to Southend-on Sea by coach and had a fantastic morning at the beach.  We were so excited to dip our toes in the ocean and jump the waves.  We collected shells, made shell moulds, did some beach art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, we painted rocks, built sandcastles and much more.  The children were perfectly behaved on the journey and at the beach itself.  It was wonderful to see the children in groups that they had perhaps not worked with before.  We had our picnics then enjoyed our ice lollies which helped to cool us down.

Aside from a couple of sore toes from sharp shells and a pair of trainers nearly floating out to sea, the day ran very smoothly and a great time was had by all.  The year 2s have now been inspired from our trip to rewrite a story that we have learned but it will now be set at the beach!

A huge thank you to the adults who came along, the donations of the buckets and spades and the support that you offered for this trip.
