Sporting Updates – Mar 2019

Football

Due to a draw in the first round of the DSSN Cup Y5/6 League the team had to replay Gade Valley which they won and went on to play Hobletts Manor in the Quarter Final. Despite excellent goal keeping by Sam J and the teamwork and skills demonstrated by the boys they lost their final match 2-0. Well done to all of the team.

On April 4th Year 3 & 4 girls will be participating in a football tournament at Kings Langley School.

Year 1 Interschool Sports Competition

Year 1 had a fantastic time at the Interschool sports competition earlier this month. It was lovely to see the children working together as a team and cheering each other on as well as showing our value of perseverance and determination. We were very proud to come in 3rd place out of the 10 schools that were competing. Well done Year 1!

Dacorum Dance Competition

Year 5 are looking forward to the DSSN Dance show on 29th March taking place at Everyone Active Hemel Hempstead. Thank you to Rebecca from Sports Fever who has been working hard with the children this term in their dance lessons to choreograph and teach them the dance on this year’s theme of the ‘Head, heart and hands.’  We wish them good luck.

Cricket

Next month pupils in Years 1-3 will have the opportunity to try Cricket in advance of a new cricket club starting at Northchurch Cricket Club. Further details will be in the newsletter.

Basketball

Pupils in Year 6 have been fortunate to benefit from expert coaching by Storm Basketball this term in PE. They have been given details for the Hertfordshire County Development Basketball Trials 2019 to select players (born 2002-2008) for inclusion in squads which will represent Hertfordshire at the East Region Intercounty Development Basketball Tournament 2019. The preparation sessions are structured to provide high-quality coaching with an emphasis on the principles of basketball and reinforcing the skills necessary to develop better basketball players for the future.

Please encourage your child to attend if they are enjoying this sport.
