Sporting Updates Nov 2018

Year 2 Sports Festival

On Tuesday 13th November, Year 2 attended the Sports Festival at Everyone Active, Berkhamsted. They competed in a number of team events practising their multi-skills and fitness. All children put in their best effort and had a go at everything that was on offer. They were a great team and were excellent ambassadors of school. Well done Year 2.

Westfield Plate team suffered an unlucky defeat at Belswains Primary, but had better luck against Chambersbury Primary winning 2-1. A few key players in the oppositions team resulted in another defeat against Kings Langley, however the team was noticeably stronger due to additional training sessions organised by Mr Young and Mrs Martinova. Thank you for your commitment and well done to everyone.

The cup team played away at Gade Valley which resulted in a 2-2 draw. Thank you to Mr Milne for managing the team. Unfortunately, their next match against St Albert the Great has been postponed.

Our Year 5 & 6 girls team played their first match against St Marys. Congratulations to the girls for their excellent teamwork and resilience throughout. St Marys came through at the end with the help of some key ‘club’ players.

Cross Country

Isaac and Felix in Year 6 were selected to participate in the District Cross Country in Hemel Hempstead. Out of a field of nearly 90 top runners the boys came 6th and 35th respectively. Well done boys. Isaac also competes in events outside school for Dacorum and Tring Athletics Club and came 14th out of a field of 90 runners in his most recent race.

Our next cross country event for Year 5 & 6 is at Beechwood Park School on 24th January. If your child would like to represent Westfield they can have the opportunity to do so if they attend running club on a Monday lunchtime.
