Sporting Updates – Oct 2018

Cross Country

On 9th October, 32 children took part in an inter school Cross Country event at Ashlyns School. Congratulations to Isaac, William, Brooke, Ryan and Luke who all achieved top ten places. Our Year 6 boys and girls came second overall in their age group. Well done to you all!

Following a difficult selection process we were lucky to be able to enter two boys’ teams for the local DSSN league. Our Cup team played their first match against Hammond Academy which ended in a 4-1 victory to Westfield. Well done boys.  Thank you to Mrs North who managed the team and to our parents who arranged transport.

Today our Plate team will play against Belswains Primary School, we will update you on this match and other matches played in next month’s news.

We have also entered a girls’ netball team in a Plate League and look forward to our first match on 6th November at home against St Mary’s.

This term Year 2 and Year 3 are benefiting from Basketball lessons in one of their PE sessions. During the following two terms the remainder year groups will also have this valuable opportunity. The coach, Abrahim, is a former professional basketball player in the BBL for London Capitals. He currently coaches U14 boys for Oaklands Wolves Basketball Club. Abrahim will be offering an after school club for Y3-6 after half term. Please encourage your child to consider taking part.
