“Excellence, Expectation and Environment”

Kew Gardens

A highlight of the Summer term was our class trip to Kew Gardens. The sun was shining, and we had a great day learning all about plants. We took part in a workshop where we learnt about how plants grow, looked at giant water lilies, and observed daisies through magnifying glasses to find that each of the yellow bits in the middle is actually a separate flower. We also visited two of the glass houses and viewed plants from Australia, America, Asia and Africa. We saw banana trees, cocoa plants, coffee plants, huge cacti and carnivorous plants too. To end our day, we laid down in the ‘beehive’ sculpture and heard the drone of the busy bees.
