Diversity Day – May 2023

On Monday 22nd May, Westfield took part in some multicultural activities for Diversity Day. Children were exposed to values and beliefs from different cultures across the globe. For example, Year 5 researched the Kayan people, whose female members wear neck rings to elongate their necks. They then used their findings to write information texts and created spatter paintings inspired by their traditions. Year 3 learnt about the Mayan civilisation, designing and making traditional necklaces; Nursery enjoyed learning about ‘flags of the world’, and much more. The children have enjoyed experiencing a glimpse into the life of all these different cultures.
