This year we focussed our learning around a book, ‘The Great Kapok Tree’ by Lynne Cherry.
We immersed ourselves into the story with a dance workshop where we retold the story in the role of one of the animals.
There has been a variety of learning across the school linked to The Great Kapok Tree such as Geography lessons learning the layers of the rainforest, recreating Henry Rousseau’s bold jungle scenes in Art and some children have even created and filmed their own nature documentaries. Thank you to all the children and grown-ups for making a special effort to dress up for World Book Day. It was lovely to hear children share the book that inspired their outfit choice.
