Specialist Coaches

We are very fortunate to be able to utilise our Sports Premium funding to provide specialist PE coaches for our curriculum lessons this term. Ace Sports have been team teaching with our class teachers and delivering lunchtime and after school clubs. Some of our pupils have fed back the following –

“I enjoy the games, particularly the ladder game where we compete in teams to get to the other side.”

Amelia TC Y3

“I really enjoy athletics club because we play games and I feel exhausted at the end.”

Isaac Y3

“I like dodgeball because PJ is fun and the club is fun.”

Xara Y6

 Clubs

We have been able to offer several Sports Clubs this term, including Dance, Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Dodgeball and Athletics. Some of these club places are funded by the school and are offered to children who are inspirational sports participants, to those who may not be able to access clubs outside school and to children who benefit from being engaged in physical activity at lunch times. We really appreciate your support to encourage your children to attend and enable us to provide these opportunities to the wider community at Westfield.

TCS London Marathon

As we come to the end of our Mini Marathon, we would like to congratulate everyone for taking part so enthusiastically and responding to the challenge to run further for longer. Daily Mile wristbands have been awarded to those who have regularly shown determination to reach their goal. TCS London Marathon pin badges will be awarded to everyone who has taken part.

Sports for Schools Commonwealth Athlete

Commonwealth gymnast, Steve Frew, visited us on Monday 17th October and after a whole school fitness circuit, he delivered an assembly on his journey to success and his motto ‘be all you can be’. The children had the opportunity to ask Steve questions on how he achieved his dream and enjoyed a quick display of his gymnastic skills. Many thanks to everyone who took part and to those who sought sponsorship and raised funds for the school. The money will go towards inclusive sports equipment.

Westfield Football Team

A squad of footballers from Y5 & 6 has been training for selection for the Westfield Football team, with PJ from Ace Sports. League matches will commence after half term. If your child attends the training, you will have received a request from the school office to contact PJ to confirm arrangements for the fixtures. Thank you for your support and good luck to the team.
